Abstract

The informal sector is an option for urban (city) residents to earn income, a sector that absorbs low-income residents in urban areas or rural workers who have low levels of education and are less skilled. One of the traditional markets in Pangkalpinang City is Pasar Pagi, a market where most of the traders are women. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression on the variables of migrant status, education, age, working hours, and number of dependents. In addition, a non-linear regression analysis was performed for the age variable. The sample in this study were 138 female traders. The results of the study indicate that the variables of migration status, education, and age have an influence on income. Meanwhile, the variables of working hours and number of dependents have no effect on income. Age variable is also known to have a non-linear relationship with the income of female workers in the informal trade sector in Pangkalpinang City.
